Selling algae
You can produce more than you currently sell. We work out which industries would buy it and on what terms, find those buyers by name, and stay in it until the goods are delivered and the orders repeat.
What we do
Define
Who would actually buy this, and on what terms.
Which industries can use what you grow and which cannot, with the reasoning for both. The specification each one asks for, how far your current harvest sits from it, and what would have to change in harvest timing or post harvest handling to reach the higher value buyers.
Interviews with real buyers and a market size per industry, rather than an assumption about who should want it.
Find
The buyers, by name.
A long list of companies that fit the profile, shortened on real information rather than on a website. Named contact persons, the outreach, the samples, and the first conversations.
How to describe your material so a buyer can actually evaluate it, which is where most producers lose the sale.
Land
Selling does not stop when the buyer says yes.
The partnership paperwork, the export documents, the transport and the invoicing, with someone staying on it until the goods are delivered and accepted. The complexity that keeps you out of a market is the same complexity that keeps your competitors out once you have solved it.
A rolling forecast, so you plan harvests against real demand and the first order becomes a recurring one.
How each step runs
Quick Scan
A short assessment analysing market positioning.
The ideal customer profile
First we sit down with you and build a profile of what you need, and what it has to meet: the client's needs. We create the ideal customer profile. A prioritised target list.
Sourcing and custom search
Then we run a custom search against that profile, and work it down from a long list to a short list. The ideal customer profile is used to run interviews and gather valuable customer and market information.
Research built from the bottom up on interviews, not on published market reports, which in this sector are mostly recycled from each other.
Guiding and overseeing the supply chain
Deals rarely collapse because the two parties disagree. They collapse because nobody is holding the thread.
BlueBurn stays in it after the introduction. Chasing samples, holding both sides to dates, and building the document set for the destination market: which authority issues each certificate, which signs it, and in what order. Some of the traps come from regulatory structure rather than carelessness, and finding a route through them takes research on both sides.
An example
The missing volume found with a buyer who had already ruled the farm out
One of the world's biggest seaweed buyers by volume faced scarcity in the region they mainly source from. The farm we represent was already on their list, with no active communication and no sales, because they assumed shipping cost would outprice the raw material.
The route reopened on the total delivered price rather than on freight alone. We negotiated price, volume and timing for both sides and guided the shipment and its documents.
