Start with a Quick Scan
Every solution starts with understanding the problem. So we built a Quick Scan, for buyers and for sellers. It tells us where you are now, and how we can best guide you towards your business goal.
- Sourcing or procurement manager, already buying microalgae or seaweedWhether you are buying the right material at the right total landed cost, where your supply risk actually sits, and which other producers meet the same specification.Supply Scan
- R&D or product development managerWhether an ingredient in your product has a credible algae alternative, at which dose, at which cost per unit of finished product, and which ones to leave alone.Ingredient Scan
- Innovation or sustainability managerWhere algae can replace something in the portfolio today at your volume, and where you would be funding a supply chain into existence.Ingredient Scan
- Owner or commercial lead of a seaweed farm or microalgae production siteWhich industries would buy what you grow, the specification each one asks for, a realistic price range, and a prioritised target list.Demand Scan
How a Quick Scan runs
You send a request. A short form: who you are, what you are sourcing or producing, and what has changed. It takes two minutes, and it tells us whether the scan is the right thing for you before either of us spends money on it.
We go through it together. The scan is a live online session. We work through every question with you, which is where the useful detail comes out, and where we can ask the things a form would never think to ask.
You get it in writing. The findings, the reasoning and the sources, including the parts that say no.
Ingredient Scan
For sustainability and R&D teams who do not use algae today, but have an ingredient that has become a problem.
We start from the function, not the ingredient. What is that material actually doing in your product, at what performance threshold, and what would have to be true of a replacement.
- Which of your ingredients has a credible microalgae or seaweed alternative, and which do not
- Candidate species, with the dose set from a threshold or a response curve rather than a supplier brochure
- Cost per unit of finished product, not cost per tonne of input
- Whether the supply exists at your volume today, or whether you would be funding it into existence
- A ranked order of what to try first, and what to leave alone
Most of the value sits in the second list. It is usually the longer one.
Supply Scan
For sourcing and procurement teams already buying microalgae or seaweed who want to know whether they are buying it well.
Often this starts as a single origin problem. One country, one harvest window, one supplier, and a growing sense that this is not a position you want to be in.
- A price benchmark against comparable specification elsewhere in the world
- Alternative species and origins that meet the same functional requirement
- Producers that match your specification more closely than your current one does
- Where your supply risk actually sits: single source, seasonal, regulatory, geopolitical
- A total landed cost view rather than a per kilo one
Cost per kilo is where most sourcing decisions in this market go wrong.
Demand Scan
For seaweed farmers and wild harvesters, and for microalgae growers in ponds, raceways and tubes, who can produce more than they currently sell.
Most producers know their crop and not their market. That is not a failing. Nobody ever told them. This scan starts at the other end: who would buy this material, on what terms, and what would have to be true of the harvest to reach them.
- Which industries would buy what you grow, and which will not, with the reasoning for both
- The specification each of those industries asks for, and how far your current harvest sits from it
- What would have to change in harvest timing or post harvest handling to reach the higher value buyers
- A realistic price range by industry and specification, rather than one number
- An ideal customer profile, and a prioritised target list rather than a long list of names
- How to describe your material so a buyer can actually evaluate it
Your best buyer is often in an industry you have not been talking to.
What if you look and there is nothing there?
Clients ask it directly. We have been searching for years and found nothing, so why would you find it.
Two honest answers. First, a definitive no is worth money after years of an open question, and you get the reasoning and the sources, not just the verdict.
Second, most searches that found nothing were run against the wrong question. That is the part we change before the search starts.
We are not a trader and we do not resell. There is no producer we are steering you toward and no margin hidden in the answer.
Ready when you are
Send a short request and we will tell you whether a scan is the right thing for you before either of us spends money on it.
